From February 28 to April 12 this year, there were 64 days of pollution in 16 cities of Yunnan Province. According to the analysis on April 13 by the atmospheric environment department of Yunnan Provincial Department of ecological environment, since this spring, the environmental air quality pollution in Yunnan has been aggravated due to the factors such as high temperature and little rain, transport of pollutants from biomass incineration in Southeast Asia, dust from urban construction, etc.
Yunnan is located in Southwest China, bordering on Vietnam, Laos and Myanmar. In 2019, the ratio of days with good air quality in Yunnan was 98.1%, ranking the third in China.
Since this spring, the majority of the 64 days of pollution in the cities of 16 prefectures and municipalities in Yunnan have occurred in the border areas between Yunnan and Southeast Asia, with the main pollutants being fine particulate matter (PM2.5) and ozone. Compared with the same period in 2019, the pollution days increased from 35 days to 64 days.
According to the analysis of the atmospheric environment department of the Department of ecological environment of Yunnan Province, affected by the abnormal climate caused by global warming and El Nino events, Yunnan has sustained high temperature and little rain, and a large range of stable weather systems occur frequently, resulting in the increase of ozone concentration and the Non-Proliferation of fine particles. In spring, the southwest monsoon is strong, and the particles and other pollutants produced by biomass incineration in Southeast Asian countries are transmitted to Yunnan, accumulating continuously, pushing up the concentration of fine particles in the ambient air, resulting in regional pollution, resulting in different degrees of exceeding the standard in many cities and prefectures of Yunnan.
In addition, according to the satellite observation data, from January 1 to April 5, 2020, compared with the same period in 2019, the number of fire spots in Southeast Asian countries continued to increase rapidly, and the number of fire spots in Honghe Prefecture, Wenshan Prefecture and other places in Yunnan also increased significantly.
In addition to the above factors, the atmospheric environment department of Yunnan Provincial Department of ecological environment believes that the dust control and supervision of construction sites in some cities in Yunnan Province are insufficient, and the dust emission remains high. In addition, the waste gas pollution control and supervision measures of some cement production enterprises and emission enterprises are still not perfect.
At present, the Department of ecological environment of Yunnan Province is carrying out the monitoring work of the impact of Southeast Asia burning on the air quality of Yunnan. With the resumption of construction of some construction sites in Yunnan, all States and cities will strengthen the comprehensive control of urban dust. Honghe, Wenshan, Xishuangbanna and other states and cities will suspend the implementation of forest fire prevention plan burning, and strengthen the management and control of burning waste grass, straw, garbage and other rural areas.
