India novel coronavirus pneumonia has been blocked by the India times, and the water quality of Ganges RIver has improved a lot. The water quality of some river reaches has reached the direct drinking standard.
In May 2019, the central pollution control board (cPCB) of India said that the water from the Ganges, the holy river, is absolutely not suitable for "direct drinking". In October 2019, the Uttar Pradesh pollution authority (uppcb) said the Henghe river was not even suitable for bathing.
According to uppcb, the level of coliform and fecal coliform in river water is very high, the maximum allowable limit of these two kinds of bacteria is 500 MPN (the most likely number) / 100 ml, while 40000 MPN coliform and 22000 MPN fecal coliform are measured in Ganges River of Jana village, Kanpur, India.
But since March this year, India has imposed a national blockade, and factories on both sides of the Ganges have been shut down. The water quality of the Ganges has been greatly improved. Now, the river is fit for drinking.
According to BD Joshi, an environmental scientist and former professor of gurukul Kangri University, the times of India quoted him as saying that the Ganges river flowing through rihigeshi and kherdwal has become very clean, and after a long time, the Ganges River can be directly drunk in religious ceremonies.
According to Josh, the improvement in the quality of the Henghe river is due to a 500% reduction in total dissolved solids (TDS), industrial wastewater, and hotel and hotel wastewater.
